Erich Ottervanger, PT, DPT
I received my doctor of physical therapy degree from Des Moines University after completing my Bachelor of Arts degree in sports science at Loras College. My clinical interests include treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions and optimizing physical function following surgery. I have expertise in Ehlers-Danlos syndrome as well as joint hyper-mobility syndromes.
Most of my life has been spent in West Des Moines, and I’m passionate about giving back to this community. I enjoy making connections with people and exploring ways to motivate and treat patients on an individual basis to help them achieve their goals for physical function and quality of life.
My Treatment Philosophy
I believe the best outcomes come through investing more time with each patient and providing personal, hands-on care. The model of “fix, train, maintain” perfectly describes my treatment philosophy. I opened West Des Moines Physical Therapy with a vision of helping individuals of all ages return to their physically active lifestyles. We do this through manual treatment, supplemented with exercise intervention, to retrain your body to function at its optimal level, and individualized home exercise programs for long-term success.
Katherine Connor, PT, DPT
Katherine received her doctor of physical therapy degree from the University of Iowa in 2014 after completing her Bachelor of Arts degree in biology and psychology at Luther College in 2012. Katherine has a wide variety of professional interests including pediatrics, vestibular conditions, musculoskeletal injuries and post-surgical rehabilitation.
Katherine has a passion for working 1:1 with both children and adults to help improve their quality of life and work toward meeting functional goals with physical therapy. When not in the clinic she enjoys biking, hiking, gardening and spending time with friends and family.
My Treatment Philosophy
I find value in working one-on-one with my patients and setting meaningful goals to work toward in our physical therapy sessions. Whether your goal is to getting back to a sport or hobby, caring for your child, performing your job or simply getting through the day without pain, I’ll try my best to help you achieve your goal. I use hands-on interventions to prepare the body for healthy movement patterns and to optimize strength and function. My holistic approach to physical therapy is based on treating you as a whole person rather than your symptoms.
